African-inspired bedding designs.
Sharon
was born in Los Angeles, CA.
At the early age of five, her talent and love for the
arts was quite apparent. Her finger paintings somehow always
stood out from the rest.
Early on there was also an interest in fashion and clothing
design. Along with academics her main interest in high school
were, fashion, sewing and art.
By God's intervention a fashion design career blossomed
into a graphic design career specializing in fashion layout.
She attended the Academy of Arts College of San Francisco,
CA As a top student
in her class Sharon excelled in all her studies. Shortly after
college she began her career in graphic design. This career
enabled Sharon to work as a freelance designer for many well
known clients, such as Macy’s of San Francisco, Lorimar Pictures,
JC Penneys, and many retail chains.
As a graphic
designer with a fashion background, a whole new world opened
up for Sharon. Her
love for the arts has been unleashed through fiber and mixed
media. This intermixing
of talent is apparent in everyone of her designs. From unique
pillows, soft sculpture, or whatever her design or media her
works stand apart from the rest. She and her family currently
reside in Southern California.
Sharon uses
a variety of imported textiles for each design. The textiles
used for each design are carefully selected to create each unique
piece.
Sharon meticulously
oversees every step in the designing process with attention
to detail as you can see by the textile photos she incorporates
in her designs are vibrant and appealing. Mud cloth from Mali
is a popular selection. The villagers weave this cotton fabric
and stencil it with a mud mixture, producing intricate designs.
